1 Melville Villas was originally a warehouse building constructed in solid brickwork with a mansard roof with crittall pattern metal windows and converted in 1990s into 6 large residential apartments.
Our brief was to extend the present mansard roof form to create an additional roof space area so that the large top floor apartment could be created into 2 self-contained maisonettes with amenity spaces.

To ensure our proposal was in keeping with the existing build form the new roof addition was designed to be harmonious with its original historic fabric both in terms of scale and mass with minimum impact on its surrounding area.
